Latin Routes recruits three trainees as part of in-house programme

Tour operator Latin Routes has taken on three recruits within two weeks of launching its salaried trainee programme to attract new talent to the business.

The Latin America specialist hopes to recruit four trainees in total on its Latin Routes Trainee Programme, starting in September, with the aim of turning them into fully-fledged sales consultants within 12 months.

The company said it has so far seen “huge interest” in the scheme, introduced as the industry faces an ongoing recruitment crisis.

The programme is aimed at those with little or no experience in the industry, such as university graduates, but is also open to industry staff, including agents, who want a change and would like to work for the company.

Successful applicants will be trained in-house and even go on a trip to learn more about the destinations sold first-hand.

Co-founder and director Martin Johnson expects even more applicants to get in touch ahead of the August 12 closing date.

He said: “We’re thrilled our trainee programme has been well received, and that many young people have seen it as the route they need into the travel industry.

“Many travel businesses require travel industry experience before they even consider hiring someone, so our programme is a great way to entice people into an amazing industry and to gain that experience as they do. We expect to receive many more applications before the closing date.

“We’ve had an incredible response already and are really excited to bring more people on board as the next generation of Latin America travel specialists.”
