Portsmouth International Port prepares for ‘busiest year ever’

Portsmouth International Port said it is preparing for its “busiest year yet” as 90 ships are scheduled to visit in 2024.

Approximately 155,000 passengers are expected to visit the port this year either at the start of their cruise or as a call on their itinerary.

Saga Cruises will be the first line to call at the port when it arrives on January 4, while Viking and Aida are also scheduled to visit this month.

Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Star will be the largest vessel to ever enter the harbour when the ship arrives in May, after Tui’s Mein Schiff 3 broke the record in 2023.

Regent Seven Seas Cruises and French line Compagnie Française de Croisières will both call at the port for the first time in 2024, with arrivals scheduled for June and April, respectively.

Andrew Williamson, head of cruise and ferry, said: “I am really excited to launch our 2024 cruise schedule.

“We have been working hard over the last few years to boost our offering to cruise lines and attract new customers to the port and city which has paid off, with the next year looking to be our busiest yet.”
