Regional sales manager returns to Travelpack role

Lisa Harkness has returned as regional sales manager for tailormade specialist Travelpack role after being made redundant as the pandemic took its toll on the travel sector in 2020.

Her sales region covers Scotland, Northern Ireland, Cumbria and Newcastle.

After her redundancy, she had some temporary work with Tesco before joining Barrhead Travel in May last year as an assistant manager in her local town of Dumfries.

She told Travel Weekly it was “wonderful” to be back, adding that she loves working with agents and has made “some great friends on the road”.

Vishal Patel, Travelpack director, said that – like many other firms – the company was unaware at the time it made her redundant that the furlough scheme would be extended in September 2020.

“We had had to take the unfortunate decision to make a number of redundancies,” he commented.

“This was, of course, an extremely difficult decision on multiple levels. I not only have a responsibility to the individuals I employ but to their families.

“I am eternally grateful for everyone’s hard work and dedication to make our business what it is today.

“To be able to have Lisa back is fantastic news. I am confident we will continue to progress in the right direction and gradually grow the team.”
