Westoe Travel will join businesses marking the sixth anniversary of the Manchester Arena bombing in which travel agent Chloe Rutherford and boyfriend Liam Curry lost their lives.
Chloe, who was just beginning her career as an agent at Westoe Travel in South Shields, was among 22 people killed in the terrorist attack on May 22, 2017.
In total, 191 businesses, schools and organisations in South Shields have signed up to take part in events on May 22 and during the summer to raise money for The Chloe and Liam Together Forever Trust.
The trust set up in the couple’s memory has so far supported more than 1,200 young people to help them reach their potential in sport and performance.
Shops and offices will decorate their premises blue and pink for the day, while residents will wear blue and pink, and family and friends will leave flowers for the couple at a memorial bench in the front of South Shields Town Hall.
Fundraising events to be held include a golf day at South Shields Golf Club on June 9; a charity football match at Harton and Westoe Miners Welfare club on June 24 with three games followed by a concert, with local performers playing; and a gala dinner at the Hilton Hotel Gateshead on July 8.
Graeme Brett, director, Westoe Travel said: “It is hard to believe that it is six years since this tragic event took the lives of this beautiful young couple. The legacy carries on through the amazing work of their families through The Chloe and Liam Together Forever Trust.”
