Whereabouts Holidays to relaunch for 2022

A travel agency which specialises in selling active leisure holidays is to relaunch with a new look and a broader product range for 2022.

Whereabouts Holidays will showcase its new logo at the National Outdoors Expo in Birmingham this weekend, with a stand and sponsorship of the main stage. It also has a new website, whereaboutsholidays.com, and is working with a broader range of suppliers than in the past.

The agency hopes to fill a gap in the market left by the closure of STA Travel in 2020.

It now specialises in campervanning, backpacking, hiking, trekking, volunteering and wildlife trips worldwide and offers trips from five nights up to 45 nights and targets young holidaymakers and those who are ‘young at heart’. It plans to offer long trips lasting a full year in future.

Previously it only offered walking and hiking holidays.

The agency is using the show to officially launch its seven travel styles, created to help clients ensure they find the right holiday for them, and will also offer visitors to the show the chance to take part in an immersive experience inside a campervan.

The new Whereabouts Travel Styles include Epic Explorer; True Trekker; Wildlife Wanderlust; Visionary Volunteer; Boundless Backpacker; Camper Cruisers and Active Adventurer.

The agency has also partnered with tour operators Intrepid Travel and G Adventures to offers a new range of holiday experiences including safaris, expeditions, camper trips and worldwide backpacking tours worldwide.

Sales manager Andy Myrlea said: “With the closure of STA, where I spent nearly 10 years, there is a gap in the market for adventure and thrill seeking travel – targeting young and the young at heart. We want to become the next trusted travel agent offering world class trips from trekking in Europe to backpacking in Thailand.’’

Chief executive of parent company Sports Tours International Chris Bird said the agency wanted to position itself at the “forefront of adventure experiences”.

He added: ’We’re entering a new era for travel in 2022 – with bucket-list trips, solo travelling and disconnection holidays trending for the year.

“We have a team with a wealth of travel experience leading the way and have partnered with experts in the field of adventure to support our new offering of worldwide trips to re-instate our customers lust for wander.’’

The agency will be offering the chance to win prizes such as a UK or European campervan trip for seven nights and prizes provided by the Sports Tours parent group.
