Travel Counsellors ‘attracting record level of new franchisees’

Travel Counsellors is attracting a record number of new joiners with 27 starting with the company in March alone.

More than 100 new franchisees have join the business as Travel Counsellors since its new financial year started in November – up by 45% year-on-year.

A third of those were experienced travel agents returning to the industry.

Ex-tour operators, corporate travel business development managers, a personal assistant and a private equity manager are among those set up their own businesses under the home working firm’s umbrella, demonstrating a diverse range of professional backgrounds.

More than 150 new franchisees joined globally last year. The company is hosting ‘discovery days’ at forthcoming mini conferences in Manchester, Birmingham and London.

The company’s model enables those currently in travel, people returning to the industry and those who are new to the sector, to “change their lives for the better”, according to the company.

It travel academy offers training and support accredited by the Institute of Travel and Tourism, whilst every newcomer is paired with an established expert from within the community.

The business model enables new franchisees to scale in a way that suits them, working with others within the 2,000-strong group or operating individually.

Global sales director Jim Eastwood said: “We are seeing a significant increase in interest from experienced travel professionals and budding entrepreneurs from a range of backgrounds with a shared passion for travel and being their own boss.

“We also now have record number of new Travel Counsellors then joining the community, far-exceeding anticipated levels.

“It’s brilliant to see that our new business owners embrace the various options and opportunities open to them in terms of building their business and taking control of their own destiny.

“All indicators show that we expect this influx of new business owners to continue to rise in the coming months and throughout the rest of the year.”

This comes as the company invests £10 million into a platform which supports teams across the business, enabling individual Travel Counsellors to work together by promoting and encouraging peer-to-peer support and knowledge sharing.

Those who work as part of a team are now earning on average 40% more, according the firm.

As well as working with other Travel Counsellors, franchisees can also employ others to support their business growth.
