Travel sector vacancies rise 80%, figures reveal

The number of new jobs available in the travel industry rose by 80% in September compared with the previous month, according to the latest figures from C&M Travel Recruitment.

The rise, which was the biggest month-on-month increase since January, means vacancies reached their highest total for six months and the figure was also up by 29% on September 2023.

The number of candidates starting their search for a new job rose to the highest level for the month of September since 2017, with the figure growing by 12% compared with August and by 29% compared with September 2023.

The job placement statistics show a 27% rise for September as the number of candidates securing a new role reached the highest level since May.

C&M Travel Recruitment managing director Barbara Kolosinska (pictured) said: “While it’s great that new placements, vacancies and candidates all rose month-on-month in September, it’s even better to see that vacancies and candidates also increased from the same month in 2023 – with placements holding steady too.

“This is a really positive sign as we head into the fourth quarter of the year, with many candidates and decision makers leaving their summer distractions behind and focusing again on new jobs and new talent.

“However, we can’t get ahead of ourselves – the summer was quiet for the travel recruitment market, but hopefully we can build on the momentum from September and see more increases in activity over the next few months.”
