UK arrivals in Turkey rose 17% to 3.7 million in the first nine months of the year, according to official figures.
Overall numbers were up by nine per cent year-on-year to reach 49.2 million in the period to September, culture and tourism minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy revealed.
This drove tourism revenue up by 7% to reach £38.7 billion as the average daily spend by visitors climbed to £88.

The Turkish Tourism Board has increased its annual target to 61 million arrivals, expecting to end the year with “unprecedented growth” across key markets.
Almost 1.8 million UK travellers visited the country in the first half of the year.
The UK is Turkey’s top source market for tourists followed by Russia and Germany.
İstanbul attracted more than 14 million international visitors in the first nine months, a rise of seven per cent year-on-year, while 13.3 million travelled to Antalya.
