Barrhead Travel creates head of PR and communications role

Barrhead Travel has promoted its PR and communications manager Karen Musgrave to the newly created role of head of PR and communications.

She will lead internal and external communications and steer company developments in sustainability.

The agency said the new role “salutes” Musgrave’s integral role in supporting the UK-wide business and wider industry during the pandemic.

She joined Barrhead Travel seven years ago at the age of 22 as a marketing executive, before being promoted to PR and communications manager.

In 2019, Musgrave became responsible for the UK PR of parent company, Internova Travel Group, which she will continue in her new role.

Musgrave commented: “Like the rest of my peers in travel, the pandemic period has tested me professionally and personally – but it has reaffirmed that travel is unlike any other industry, and I feel very fortunate to be in such a rewarding role where my career is also my passion.

“I’m grateful to be surrounded by such an encouraging senior team who all offer meaningful support and are genuinely invested in the future of our people.

“I am excited that the next step in my career falls in line with the next chapter for travel. The tide is turning, and I look forward to fresh challenges and opportunities as the world, finally, reopens.”

Jacqueline Dobson, president of Barrhead Travel, added: “This promotion is a true testament to Karen’s unwavering commitment to our business, devotion to our industry and talent in her field.

“Over the past 20 months, Karen has been a source of unwavering support and force for change in travel. We congratulate her with gratitude for a promotion well-deserved.

“At Barrhead Travel, we are committed to growing our people from within and Karen is an excellent example of how hard work and talent is recognised and nurtured.”
