n BTI UK awarded sainsbury account
BTI UK has been appointed to handle the travel business of retailer Sainsbury. The business travel agent will organise arrangements for 2,500 Sainsbury and Homebase personnel each year. The business will be handled by an outplant at Sainsbury’s head office and by BTIUK’s Leicester hotel call centre.

TheGuild of Business Travel Agents has launched its first MBAqualification, in partnership with the University of the West of England. The first intake of 12 students will begin the course in June. It will take three years to complete. Students will receive a diploma and credits toward the final qualification at the end of each year from the University’s Bristol Business School.

The controversial General Insurance Standards Council will be discussed during a two-day seminar on Travel Law at ABTA’s Newman Street offices on February 9 and 10. Other topics will include unfair contract terms, the new Data Protection Act, crisis management and legal issues surrounding the Internet. n Ex-Amadeus director gets consultancy post
FormerAmadeus business development director Peter Horder has been appointed as UK managing director of commercial aviation consultancy Simat, Hellison and Eichner. Horder, who left global distribution system supplier Amadeus in 1995, has since run his own air transport consultancy.
