Thomas Cook to counteract no-frills threat

THOMAS Cook is considering using JMC Airlines to offer scheduled services in an attempt to counter the growing threat of low-cost carriers

The group’s chief executive John Donaldson told delegates at the ABTA Convention in Cairns he would not see his business eroded by the likes of Go and EasyJet. He said JMCAirlines aircraft will be used to their full potential to combat commercial competition.

However, a spokesman said there was no question of JMC Airlines putting too many seats in to the market as the airline is cutting seat-only capacity to 500,000 from 600,000 for summer 2000.
