Amadeus seniorvice-president marketing David Jones will reveal travel agents’ views of the future at the ABTAConvention in Cairns later this month. Amadeus has conducted a comprehensive survey of agents throughout the UK to gauge their views on everything from technology developments to commission payments. The result of the survey will be a catalyst for a debate during the session between Airtours UKLG distribution director Peter Shanks,Co-op general manager Yvonne Rankin and Bath Travel joint managing director Stephen Bath. JMC has poached John Fair from Airtours to be group product manager. Fair was the senior marketing manager at Airtours for the Balearics and mainland Spain. He will report to JMC product and planning director Alan MacLean in his new role.
n GDS deal for carrier
Humberside-based EasternAirways has made its inventory available onglobal distribution systems Galileo, Worldspan, Sabre and Amadeus. Ticketing for the airline, which serves Aberdeen, Norwich and Humberside, will initially be carried out by Air Europa until Eastern joins the Bank Settlement Plan scheme. Agents can already access Eastern using the EasyRes reservation system.
n new flights launch
British Regional Airlines will launch daily weekday flights from Southampton to Frankfurt on January 10. The British Airways franchise carrier is also adding two more daily flights from Southampton to Dublin to give a thrice-daily service from January 4. Last week the airline took over KLM UK’s four daily Southampton flights to Jersey.
