Finnair is to extend its Edinburgh-Helsinki route to a year-round service.
The route, flown by a 138-seat Airbus A319, will operate three times a week from March 25, rising to five weekly flights during the summer.
The flights will provide connections onto long-haul services from the Finnish capital to destinations in Asia.
Expansion for winter 2018-19 will see more flights added to Osaka, Hong Kong, Dehli and Phuket.
Finnair confirmed that non-stop flights to Ivalo and Kittilä in Finnish Lapland from Gatwick will continue following this winter’s inaugural season.
A Helsinki to Rovaniemi route will also be served by an additional daily flight on weekdays.
Finnair will receive its 12th Airbus A350 this year and will be adding several frequencies to its popular long-haul destinations.
Chief commercial officer Juha Järvinen said: “Finnair is currently in the largest expansion phase of its history and we are pressing forward by growing our capacity to popular destinations in Asia and Europe.
“These added frequencies will offer our customers more choice and flexibility for their winter plans.”
