Restructure and job losses at ABTA

ABTA is to announce job losses and create two new roles as it continues to integrate with the Federation of Tour Operators (FTO).

The association plans to add two roles to its senior management team following the imminent departure of FTO director-general and ABTA head of development Andy Cooper:

  • A head of public affairs to drive ABTA’s lobbying role

  • A head of destination strategy and services to take the lead on health and safety, responsible tourism and crisis management

In addition, operations manager Susan Lamb is promoted to the management team as head of ABTA operations. She will be responsible for driving performance and efficiency improvements across all of ABTA’s operations.

Several job losses are proposed, although details are not available as employees are currently being consulted.

Mark Tanzer said: “The proposed changes are part of the continuing evolution of ABTA into an integrated and focused association that can demonstrate outstanding effectiveness and efficiency to our members.”
