Oceania Cruises and Fincantieri have completed the float-out of Allura as attention turns to the ship’s interior.
The 1,200-guest ship was floated from the dry dock at Sestri Ponente, Genoa, in a low-key ceremony following the recent death of Fincantieri chairman Claudio Graziano.
Oceania Cruises president Frank A. Del Rio said: “The float-out is an important moment for all at Oceania Cruises and Fincantieri, as we progress closer to Allura joining our family. Now that we have completed her shell, we are excited to get started on her interior.”
Del Rio added: “Our hearts and minds are with the entire team at Fincantieri as they mourn the passing of General Graziano.”
Allura, the company’s eighth vessel and the second in the Allura Class, after Vista, is scheduled to enter service from Trieste on July 18, 2025.
After a summer season in the Mediterranean, the ship will undertake sailings in North America before a winter season in the Caribbean with Miami as the homeport.
“We have lots of exciting enhancements on Allura, further elevating our offerings and firmly cementing Oceania Cruises as the only ultra-premium cruise brand,” said Del Rio.
The ship was blessed by Father Stefano, the shipyard’s chaplain, with Allura’s shipyard Madrina, Caterina Romeo, conducting the christening. Romeo is a designer in Fincantieri’s technical department.
