Prepare for longer journeys to Heathrow with M25 weekend closure, airport warns

Heathrow and British Airways have warned that a weekend closure of the M25 will lead to longer journeys to the airport.

The motorway will be shut for planned works in both directions between Junctions 10 and 11 to the south of the M3 junction from 9pm tonight (Friday) until 6am on Monday.

“A diversion will be in place, however, journeys are expected to take much longer than usual,” Heathrow said.

“Passengers planning to use this part of the M25 should allow for extra time when travelling to Heathrow during this period.”

Amended timetables for the weekend have been introduced for The Airline Heathrow-Gatwick coach service and rail-air connections.

Referring to the M25 closure, BA said: “The roads will be very busy so please plan ahead and allow extra time for your journey.”

National Highways said: We carefully plan all our closures to limit disruption, but sometimes it’s not possible to carry out all the work that’s needed without a closure. We have planned all our closures to avoid holiday periods and key events in the area.

“The work needs to be carried out now to continue the good progress on the delivery of the scheme which is due to open to traffic next summer.”
