Fred Olsen Travel poised to open 22nd agency branch

Fred Olsen Travel is to open its 22nd high street shop in Chichester later this month.

The new outlet will be the company’s fifth concept store, with Tui, Travelsphere & Just You, Azamara, Wendy Wu Tours and Fred Olsen Cruise Lines supporting the branch with in-store branding.

This move takes the company’s Sussex portfolio of shops to four after locations in Worthing, Eastbourne and Heathfield, including the acquisition of Solent World Travel was acquired in June.

The Chichester branch will be led by Roger Mallock who will be joining the company as manager 25 years after opening a Bath Travel agency in the same town.

He joined the industry in the 1980s and worked for leading brands such as Lunn Poly, Bath Travel, Planet Cruise, Hays Travel and Woods Travel. Mallock also has experience working on board Fred Olsen Cruises and also as a tour director for Saga and Shearings.

The branch is due to start trading in September with a grand opening taking place on October 9.

Retail director Paul Hardwick said: “We are delighted to be further expanding our retail footprint and adding to our recently established cluster of shops in Sussex.

“I would like to personally thank not just the operators that are supporting us with this newest venture but also all of our operator concept sponsors from all of our recent openings.

“Without your support and help we would not be able to deliver such aggressive growth on the high-street and to showcase so many fantastic brands which is key to the success of these new stores.”

Fred Olsen Travel has 10 travel agencies in East Anglia in Ipswich, Felixstowe, Woodbridge, Framlingham, Colchester, Bury St Edmunds, Beccles and Norwich; eight in Dorset and Hampshire in Hythe, Lymington, Westbourne, Christchurch, Ferndown, Dorchester, Lee-on-Solent and Ringwood; and three in Sussex in Heathfield, Eastbourne and Worthing.
