The Travel Corporation (TTC) has appointed Melissa DaSilva as interim chief executive of TTC Tour Brands, succeeding Gavin Tollman.
He will exit the business when the sale of TTC to private equity company Apollo Funds closes later this year.
The Apollo deal comprises TTC’s touring, cruise and adventure brands, as well as other global travel brands and supporting business entities.
DaSilva most recently served as president of TTC Tour Brands North America and she has more than three decades of travel industry expertise.
In her interim position, which is effective immediately, she will oversee TTC Tour Brands’ portfolio of six brands, which includes escorted tour operator Trafalgar; premium guided vacation company, Insight Vacations; and youth travel specialist, Contiki.
Outgoing TTC Tour Brands chief executive Gavin Tollman, who has been at the helm of TTC Tour Brands since its inception, will continue to support DaSilva during the leadership transition.
He said: “Melissa has consistently demonstrated her business acumen and leadership throughout her tenure as president of North America.
“Her deep understanding of TTC Tour Brands’ diverse portfolio and her strategic vision make her the ideal choice to steer the company through this pivotal time.”
DaSilva added: “I am excited and honoured to lead TTC Tour Brands through this important phase in its history.
“The opportunities ahead for the brands and the talented teams behind them are immense. Together, we will ensure a seamless transition and set a strong foundation for continued success.”
She will also support the search process for her successor as president of North America.
