Headwater is introducing 25 walking, cycling and activity trips across Europe for this year.
The operator has expanded its portfolio of self-guided holidays with a range of trips aimed at those wanting to discover quieter, lesser known parts of Europe at a slower pace.
New trips range from exploring the national parks of Greece and Unesco sites in France to learning about the cultural past of England.
There are no fixed departure dates and clients can go at their own pace while luggage is transferred to their accommodation, which ranges from guesthouses and pubs to small hotels.
New holidays for 2022 include an eight-day Walking the Akamas Peninsula. The Cyprus trip tours the peninsula and its national park on coastal and inland walks, starting in Droushia.
It includes the Kremiotis Waterfall, Laona Plateau villages, the Blue Lagoon and Baths of Aphrodite cave. It costs from £1,199, including flights, accommodation, breakfast, route directions and maps, luggage and walking transfers on day four and five.
The eight-day Undiscovered Sardinia Cycling trip, from £1,529, offers the chance to explore the landscape of the region’s southwestern coast, including remote coves, a former mining village, vineyards and olive groves, and the islands of St Pietro and St Antico.
Closer to home, the nine-day Walking Offa’s Dyke Path (South) in Wales, priced from £1,199, follows the trail of the hand-dug bank and ditch built by King Offa in the eighth century along the English/Welsh border.
It includes a trek up to Hatterrall Ridge to cross the Black Mountains and descent along riverside trails to explore Hay-on-Wye, the ‘town of books’. Historical highlights include Monnow Bridge, White Castle and Chepstow Castle.
