Malta targets over-65s with €1m incentive scheme

The Malta Tourism Authority is urging tour operator partners to register their interest to join an incentive scheme to encourage travellers aged 65 or more to book longer holidays in the Maltese archipelago.

The scheme has a total budget of €1 million, which will be distributed across all markets, and aims to attract long-stay travellers by giving vouchers to those booking a minimum of 15 nights in the destination.

The vouchers will be available for travellers who will be visiting the Maltese islands between October 18 and December 19, 2021.

Eligible travellers will receive €100 worth of vouchers, which can be collected when they arrive in Malta.

The vouchers can be redeemed in participating restaurants, accommodation, retail and services outlets.

Tour operators should register their interest by sharing the number of passengers they forecast will utilise the scheme.

To register their interest, UK operators can contact the MTA’s trade marketing manager, Natalie Swinburne, by 5pm on June 18.
