The research supports data analysed by over-50s travel specialist Silver Travel Advisor in a March survey of its base of more than 125,000 members which found 30% wanted to visit far away destinations, and 30% wanted new experiences.
The operator has launched an India itinerary for solo travellers to meet demand from its customers, which will take place in March 2023.
Speaking to Travel Weekly, company owner and managing director Lisa McAuley said: “When we conducted our research we found that 30% of our customers wanted new experiences, 30% wanted to visit far away destinations, and 20% wanted to take a once-in-a-lifetime trip, so we have created an itinerary to cater for that demand.”
Silver Travel Advisor marketing director Kerry Gallagher said: “We have seen a huge thirst for adventure holidays with people wanting to go big after they missed out on travelling during the pandemic, which is why we are laying on the India tour at the beginning of next year.
“The over-50s are still an adventurous bunch and lockdown has made people think ‘sod it, life is short, let’s take that bucket list trip’.”
