Trailfinders outlines asks of government in next update

Trailfinders has outlined a series of asks of government to remove ‘hurdles and confusion’ that remain despite the positive of news of easing restrictions for fully-vaccinated travellers.

In a post on its blog, the company said the government’s next traffic light update, expected on Thursday, should also address issues including the alignment of FCDO advice, the removal of testing requirements for fully-vaccinated passengers returning from green list countries and the scrapping of VAT on PCR tests.

It also called for increased numbers of border force staff and streamlined airport processes, a four nations approach to ensure consistent advice and immediate action to improve or scrap the NHS Test &Trace app.

It said: “The fully vaccinated no longer having to quarantine on return from amber countries has led to a pick-up in confidence to book a holiday abroad this summer.

“Even the minority still awaiting their second jab know when their personal ‘freedom date’ will be. A positive step!

“However, hurdles and confusion remain, which must be addressed in the 15 July update to be fair to travellers.”
