EasyJet chief executive Johan Lundgren has been named as a keynote speaker at the Convention, on October 7-9 in Costa Navarino, Greece, in what will be one of his last appearances at an industry event before stepping down at the end of the year.

Lundgren will reflect on his seven years as head of the airline and join other industry leaders and guest speakers in addressing the Convention theme: ‘Shaping our future’.

Sky News presenter and travel writer Jonathan Samuels will moderate the Convention for the first time

Delegates will be presented with new research on the market forces shaping the industry and customer behaviour, with the world’s biggest professional services firm Deloitte examining the likely impact of economic, social and technological forces on consumer markets.

Abta chief executive Mark Tanzer said: “Abta’s Travel Convention provides a vital forum for us to examine the challenges and opportunities facing our sector.”

He explained: “The agenda is being developed around four core pillars – our world, our industry, your business and your network – to help ensure delegates and their businesses thrive in the years to come.

“’Our world’ is designed to help make sense of global events and adapt to changes on the horizon. ‘Our industry’ addresses current developments, emerging trends and future challenges with advice from industry experts.

“’Your business’ focuses on the world of work, our people, technological advancements and the latest innovations, while ‘your network’ makes sure there is time to connect with other delegates to exchange ideas.”

Tanzer said: “As ever, our Convention promises to be a fantastic event, so I would encourage those interested in attending to register by July 19 to take advantage of the Early Bird savings.”
